Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Senior Corporate Accountant to join a collaborative finance team supporting a diverse portfolio of corporate entities and investments. This role plays an important part in maintaining strong financial controls, delivering accurate reporting, and supporting long-term financial stewardship. The successful candidate will take ownership of core accounting activities, contribute to process improvements, and help strengthen reporting and compliance practices across a multi-entity environment. Responsibilities
- Own full-cycle accounting activities for assigned corporate entities, ensuring accurate and timely financial records.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Prepare financial statement packages, working papers, variance analysis, and internal reporting materials.
- Support complex accounting transactions related to acquisitions, dispositions, refinancings, and corporate reorganizations.
- Oversee revenue processes including invoicing, revenue recognition, forecasting, collections, and customer onboarding.
- Review and process inter-company transactions, management fees, board fees, and resource fee invoices.
- Support accounts payable activities and ensure proper documentation and coding.
- Maintain corporate records, financial files, compliance schedules, and entity documentation.
- Prepare and support GST/HST, Employer Health Tax, WCB, and other statutory filings to meet deadlines.
- Assist with tax compliance requirements, including year-end tax packages and communication with external accounting advisors.
- Support preparation of banking reports, cash forecasts, and quarterly board reporting packages.
- Contribute to finance system improvements, including implementation and optimization of tools such as Microsoft Business Central and related ERP solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen controls, and increase workflow efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Enrollment in or completion of the CPA program.
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years supporting a multi-entity environment.
- Experience with full-cycle accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting and tax compliance requirements.
- Experience with financial statement preparation, consolidation, or combination reporting.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with Microsoft Business Central, JetReports, or similar ERP systems is an asset.
- Experience working with a foundation, registered charity, family office, or similar organization is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
