Just HR is recruiting for a Senior Compensation Advisor to support a respected nonprofit organization committed to equitable, people-centered growth. As the organization continues to expand, this role plays a critical part in advancing compensation programs that are fair, consistent, and easy to understand. his role is ideal for a compensation professional who enjoys translating data into clarity, simplifying complex pay structures, and helping leaders make decisions that align with organizational values. You'll work closely with HR leadership to maintain and evolve a compensation framework that meets operational needs and supports long-term growth.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and refine the organization's salary structures, pay bands, and merit-based compensation framework.
- Conduct job evaluations and support the creation or adjustment of job descriptions in partnership with department leaders.
- Advise HR and business stakeholders on pay decisions, internal equity, and organizational structure impacts.
- Analyze compensation data using Excel and provide clear, actionable insights.
- Collaborate with an external consultant to ensure internal practices align with broader market benchmarks.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to staff and leadership that explain compensation concepts in simple, relatable language.
- Educate and coach leaders on how to apply compensation principles fairly and effectively.
- Adjust recommendations based on organizational readiness, cultural alignment, and leadership capacity.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in performance-related pay and compensation education.
Requirements
- Experience in compensation, total rewards, or related HR functions at an advisory or specialist level.
- Strong understanding of job evaluation, salary banding, and merit-based pay programs.
- Proficient in Excel and comfortable analyzing compensation data sets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to tailor messaging for different audiences.
- High emotional intelligence and ability to operate with sensitivity, clarity, and tact.
- Experience working in nonprofit, government, Indigenous, or culturally grounded organizations is an asset.
- Comfortable navigating change and ambiguity in a growing organization.
Remuneration
- Salary $100,000 to $115,000
- Employer-paid extended health and dental benefits
- $1,500 annual massage allowance
- Participation in a municipal pension plan (majority employer-paid, transferable if already enrolled)
- 4 weeks of vacation to start
- 15 paid wellness/personal days per year
- Additional paid holidays unique to the organization
- 2–3 weeks of fully paid office closure during the winter holidays
- Hybrid work model: 2–3 days per week in office
