Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Payroll Manager to build and lead a high-performing payroll function within a growing, multi-entity organization. This role exists to strengthen payroll controls, improve accuracy and efficiency, and support business growth through scalable processes and systems. As a key partner to finance and operations, the Payroll Manager will help ensure employees are paid correctly and on time while driving consistency across regions and supporting integration initiatives.


Responsibilities:


  • Lead and optimize end-to-end payroll operations across multiple entities
  • Strengthen payroll controls and implement checks to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Review and validate biweekly payroll outputs, including reasonability analysis
  • Build analytics to identify trends, errors, and opportunities for improvement
  • Oversee system integrations, including payroll data flow into ADP
  • Lead payroll-related projects, including system implementations and upgrades
  • Support integration of newly acquired businesses into a unified payroll model
  • Standardize payroll processes across Canadian and US operations
  • Set team goals, assign responsibilities, and monitor performance
  • Coach and develop payroll team members, addressing performance issues as needed
  • Improve workflows, systems, and policies to increase efficiency and scalability
  • Ensure compliance with collective agreements and regulatory requirements
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to support business needs and resolve issues
  • Act as a trusted resource for payroll expertise across the organization

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of payroll and accounting experience with progression into leadership
  • Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • PCP designation required; PLP is an asset
  • Strong experience with ADP payroll systems
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks is an asset
  • Experience in high-volume payroll environments
  • Familiarity with shared services models and multi-entity structures
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience supporting system implementations or process improvements
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and controls

Remuneration:

$100,000 - $120,000 Competitive salary with benefits, including extended health, dental, and vision coverage, RRSP, paid vacation, and career growth opportunities.
