Junior Accountant

Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Junior Accountant to support day-to-day accounting operations and ensure accurate financial records across billing, collections, and reporting. This role helps maintain strong cash flow, supports month-end close, and improves visibility into accounts receivable and project-based revenue.

Responsibilities:

• Review sales orders, invoices, and contracts to ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition
• Prepare and issue invoices, including those related to training and consulting services
• Follow up on overdue accounts and manage collections to improve cash flow
• Track and report on accounts receivable aging and collection activity
• Apply incoming payments and resolve discrepancies or unidentified receipts
• Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations
• Support month-end close activities related to AR and revenue
• Prepare journal entries tied to receivables, revenue, and project work
• Maintain clear documentation of billing and AR procedures
• Assist with audit requests by providing supporting documentation and analysis
• Coordinate consulting project administration including contract setup, cost tracking, and billing
• Track timesheets and assist with commission calculations
• Contribute to regulatory reporting such as Statistics Canada surveys
• Provide backup support for accounts payable and fixed assets as needed

Requirements:

• Diploma or degree in accounting or finance
• 2-3 years of relevant accounting experience
• Experience with NetSuite is an asset
• Strong Excel skills at an intermediate to advanced level
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word and Outlook
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
• Self-starter who can work independently and within a team

Remuneration:

• $30 - $35/hr
