Just HR is recruiting for an HR & LR Business Partner to support the Alberta South and Ontario regions for a fast-growing, entrepreneurial construction and manufacturing company. With a portfolio spanning multiple sites and over 200 employees, this role is key to ensuring leaders and employees receive responsive, practical HR guidance. The position offers strong regional influence and the chance to shape people practices in a business that values independence, agility, and visible HR presence.
Responsibilities
- Build strong, trust-based relationships with leaders across Alberta South and Ontario
- Provide hands-on support in employee relations, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution
- Offer expert guidance on labour relations, particularly for the unionized Ontario portfolio
- Participate in strategic workforce planning and talent development initiatives
- Travel occasionally to Ontario to maintain on-site visibility (approx. 15–20%)
- Lead or contribute to HR projects including mentorship program design and succession planning
- Maintain compliance with employment laws and internal policies
- Act as a go-to partner during organizational pivots or business process changes
- Drive employee engagement through consistent communication and presence
- Collaborate closely with the HR leadership team on continuous improvement efforts
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally in manufacturing, construction, or similar environments
- Strong employee and labour relations background; Ontario union exposure is a definite advantage
- Proven ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and building new processes
- Confident communicator with a people-first mindset
- Based in Calgary or nearby (on-site presence required)
- CHRP or similar designation is an asset
- Ability to travel up to 20% to site locations.
Remuneration
- Salary range: $95,000–$110,000 depending on experience, with benefits. Flexibility for exceptional candidates.
