Just HR is recruiting for a Health & Safety Lead, Pipeline Construction to support a large-scale construction project focused on critical infrastructure expansion. This role plays a vital part in ensuring safe, efficient progress in one of the project's most high-risk and high-impact areas—pipeline construction. You'll be the trusted on-site safety presence, actively guiding contractors, identifying risk, and helping maintain a safety-first culture in the field. Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary safety advisor for a specific pipeline construction area within a major capital project
- Partner with contractors to support safe execution of daily activities, ensuring alignment with site-wide HSE standards
- Lead or support field-based safety inspections, hazard assessments, and work permit audits
- Attend daily planning and coordination meetings to stay ahead of critical activities and risk areas
- Proactively identify gaps or breakdowns in safety practices and work with teams to resolve them in real time
- Support incident investigations and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Coach frontline workers, permit techs, and junior safety personnel to elevate overall team safety performance
- Work closely with the broader HSE and operational teams to ensure clear communication and effective issue resolution
- Contribute to the review and planning of high-risk activities, bringing a prevention-first mindset
- Provide ongoing documentation and reporting to meet regulatory and internal compliance expectations
Requirements:
- 5–10 years of field experience in Health & Safety, ideally in mining, oil & gas, or major capital construction
- Solid understanding of hazard controls, safe work permits, and field-level hazard assessments (FLHAs)
- Confident leading toolbox talks, site inspections, and coaching conversations with crews and supervisors
- Proven ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in a field-based, fast-moving environment
- Clear knowledge of Canadian health and safety laws and provincial regulatory requirements
- Experience supporting or leading safety initiatives in remote or rotational project environments
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence, guide, and gain buy-in from various stakeholders
- Highly organized, with a track record of accurate reporting and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Comfortable working rotational shifts at a remote project site (e.g., 10/4 or 7/14 schedule)
Remuneration:
- Pay rate is expected to be $90/hr + dependant on capability and experience. This is a long-term contract opportunity with potential for extension based on project needs.
