Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for an IAM Specialist to provide identity and access management expertise across enterprise technology and cybersecurity projects. This role will help ensure new applications, systems, integrations, and business processes are designed with strong access controls, least-privilege principles, regulatory requirements, and sustainable IAM practices in mind. You will work closely with cybersecurity, technology, business, and project teams to identify risks, shape practical solutions, and support secure project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Act as the IAM subject matter expert across enterprise projects, providing technical guidance on identity, authentication, authorization, access management, and privileged access.
- Review project requirements, application designs, role models, workflows, and integration approaches to confirm they meet enterprise IAM and cybersecurity standards.
- Configure and maintain IAM controls within Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including users, groups, roles, enterprise applications, service principals, and access assignments.
- Design, test, and maintain Microsoft Entra Conditional Access policies supporting MFA, device compliance, location-based controls, guest access, service accounts, and risk-based access.
- Evaluate access models for least privilege, segregation of duties, privileged access, lifecycle management, approval processes, and auditability.
- Define and validate access requirements for new applications, systems, integrations, and business processes, including roles, entitlements, service accounts, and lifecycle events.
- Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts and other automation to support reporting, access reviews, bulk updates, policy analysis, and data cleanup.
- Identify IAM risks, control gaps, compliance concerns, and operational dependencies, then recommend practical mitigation plans.
- Partner with cybersecurity architecture, application owners, business stakeholders, project managers, vendors, and technical teams to integrate IAM requirements early in project planning.
- Provide IAM input into testing plans and acceptance criteria, including provisioning, deprovisioning, role assignment, privileged access, authentication, and Conditional Access.
- Support access certification and audit readiness by helping ensure controls, documentation, and evidence are complete and sustainable.
- Contribute to implementation readiness, documentation, knowledge transfer, operational handover, and post-implementation reviews.
- Manage competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on access risk, security controls, and project outcomes.
- Build trusted relationships with business partners and vendors, using technical expertise to influence decisions and resolve issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 7+ years of professional IT experience, including at least 5 years focused directly on Identity and Access Management.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
- Strong understanding of IAM principles, including authentication, authorization, RBAC, access governance, least privilege, and segregation of duties.
- Experience with IAM audits, access certification, and access control requirements.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO, or similar frameworks.
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements related to access controls, such as SOX.
- Experience with PowerShell or other scripting and automation tools is an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess access risks and recommend practical solutions.
- Ability to influence stakeholders, negotiate solutions, and communicate technical risks clearly to business and technology audiences.
- Experience working with third-party vendors and cross-functional project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of security controls, risk, and audit requirements.
