Horizon Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Senior Contract Manager to support major capital infrastructure projects. This role will focus on managing complex construction, engineering and major equipment contracts. The successful candidate will play a key role in protecting project interests, managing commercial risks, controlling costs, and ensuring contracts are delivered successfully. Working closely with project teams, suppliers, and contractors, you will provide hands-on contract leadership from early planning through execution and close-out.


Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day contract management for major capital projects, including construction, engineered supply, and supply-and-install contracts.
  • Manage contract changes, claims, disputes, progress payments, and close-out activities while protecting project interests.
  • Review contract terms, scopes of work, specifications, and procurement documents to identify risks and opportunities before contract award.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve contract issues and keep projects on track.
  • Monitor contractor performance, schedules, deliverables, and compliance with contractual obligations.
  • Lead contract progress meetings and support negotiations with contractors and suppliers.
  • Manage contract budgets, work packages, and financial commitments to maintain cost control.
  • Prepare contract performance reports, including financial forecasts, accruals, risks, and key performance indicators.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve supplier performance, and strengthen contract outcomes.
  • Provide guidance to project teams on contract interpretation, commercial decisions, and risk management.
  • Support improvements to contract management processes and vendor management practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum 12 years of progressive experience managing complex contracts, including contract execution, administration, negotiations, and risk management.
  • Degree in Business, Law, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
  • Strong experience managing contract changes, claims, disputes, contractor performance, and commercial risks.
  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively, influence stakeholders, and identify opportunities for cost savings.
  • Experience managing construction contracts for major infrastructure projects, ideally involving transmission lines, substations, or power generation.
  • Technical knowledge of engineering, design, and construction practices.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Remuneration

  • $90/hr contract rate
